Guide To Contacting Your GP During COVID


In response to the current coronavirus pandemic, GP Practices across the UK have changed how they deliver care to their patients. The following message is long, but very important, please read carefully.

Even if you feel well. Please do not attend the practice unless you have been given instructions by the team on when, and how, to arrive at the practice safely. Following advice from the UK Government, to move to the delay phase, all practices will move care to remote means where possible. You will receive a phone or video call from the practice, instead of being seen face to face. You can submit an electronic request for care to the practice using the online consultation service. Using the online service will keep the phone lines free for those who are not able. Simply follow the links on the practice website. We will also temporarily accept prescription requests using this service if you do not have a login for online patient access.

Do you have a fever or a cough? If so you must self-isolate at home for 7 days, to slow the spread of the virus. If you are still unwell after 7 days, or you feel unable to cope with the symptoms at home, you must contact the 1 1 1 Coronavirus service. Please use the online tool where possible, www.1 1 hypen 19, or call 1 1 1. 

Doctors appointments

If you have a fever, persistent cough or respiratory symptoms please self isolate for 7 days and if your symptoms get worse call 111 or go online re 111 advice.

If you feel you need to speak to a GP you will be put on our triage list and a GP will call you back during that day. Please do not attend the surgery to book any appointments.

ALL pre-booked GP appointments will take place over the telephone/video consultation unless a GP invites you to the Surgery.

Chronic disease or Respiratory Nurse appointments -Your face to face appointments will be conducted over the telephone. Please do not attend the surgery.

Healthcare assistant and practice Nurse appointments - routine appointments will be cancelled. Necessary appointments such as B12 injections, Dressings, Prostap injections, stitch removal will go ahead. Please only attend the surgery if you feel well.

Baby Vaccinations - important for your baby - these appointments will go ahead. Please only attend the surgery if you and your baby are well.

Blood appointments - please attend pre-booked appointments if you feel well. Will will only be booking future blood appointments where the need is necessary ie INR/Warfarin patients.

If you are calling for another reason please ensure you visit the NHS dot uk website first to find self-care advice. This will help keep our doctors and nurses available to help the sickest people in our community. Provided you do not have symptoms of the coronavirus you can also access high quality advice at your local community pharmacy.

If you have sustained an injury, and are unable to manage it using first aid, you will need to attend your local Minor Injuries or accident and emergency department.  Thank you for your co-operation.
